Discover the visitor trail

An immersive and educational concept

The Cité du Chocolat Valrhona visitor trail is designed as a true immersion into the world of cocoa. More than just an exhibition, it's a vibrant experience that transforms visitors into explorers. Each space is designed to awaken the senses and stimulate curiosity: sounds, lights, textures, and aromas combine to tell the story of chocolate in an original and captivating way.

This tour is at the heart of the chocolate museum: it embodies the promise of discovering cocoa in a new way, blending knowledge, emotion, and indulgence. Indeed, the tour is also an invitation to taste. At several points along the route, chocolates are offered for tasting, allowing visitors to compare their origins, intensities, and textures. This is an opportunity to perceive the aromatic richness of chocolate: fruity, floral, spicy, or woody notes amongst others. Each tasting becomes a key to better understand the diversity of flavors and the importance of the work of the producers and chocolatiers.

The journey reveals chocolate in a different way: a discovery combining knowledge, emotion and comparative tasting to fully explore the aromatic richness of cocoa.

A journey to the origins of cocoa and the discovery of traditional skills

In the immersive atmosphere of the production workshops, visitors understand how master roasters, conchers, and blenders transform the raw material into couverture chocolate with delicate and balanced aromas. The most curious can follow the journey of a chocolate on a mini production line.

Enhance your visit with our discovery workshops

The tasting workshops

A chocolate museum wouldn't be complete without tasting! At the Cité du Chocolat, visitors are invited to savor around fifteen Valrhona creations. Some tasting workshops allow you to compare different cocoa origins, appreciate aromatic nuances, and understand the impact of terroir on flavors. Each chocolate tells a story : that of a producing country, a particular climate, and artisanal expertise.

Cultural mediators guide participants on a tasting journey, explaining the fruity, floral, or spicy notes to name but a few that are revealed with each bite. These moments of sharing are at the heart of the experience : they transform the visit into a true sensory initiation. Exclusive activities led by the Cité du Chocolat's tour guides offer a sensory journey that combines cocoa with another carefully selected ingredient or product. These activities invites you to experience unusual pairings such as : chocolates & wines, fruit juices & chocolates, coffee & chocolates, cheeses & chocolates, etc.

Discovery workshops

Guided tasting, opening a cocoa pod, introduction to tasting… The discovery workshops are varied and designed to extend the visit with a 30-minute immersion around a particular theme: the history of chocolate, from the pod to the nib, the secrets of praline making, workshops on taste…

Visitors discover the richness of the aromas: notes of dried fruit, coffee, honey, or even flowers. The tactile experiences allow you to handle the beans, open a real pod, touch the cocoa nibs, and compare the textures of ganaches or pralines. This chocolate museum highlights the complete sensory dimension of the product, offering a rare and precious immersion.
